NABO Time Change IN EFFECT THIS WEEK

By a vote of 11-4, the Votable Members (you can be one too!) have ruled that NABO will be made an hour earlier.

It will now start 2 hours after scheduled EUBO end time. Or in other words:

8pm Eastern
1am GMT
2am CET
5pm Pacific

THIS WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR TUESDAY, MAY 22nd. It should make it easier for players on both sides of the Atlantic with work the next morning to play, and hopefully we'll see some new faces at NABO, at least in the first hour.

See you then :D

Do you mean start 2 hours after scheduled EUBO end time, or really end 2 hours after scheduled EUBO end time? :)

While the short  notice will have an effect this NABO, I hope your hopefulness above works out for the long run.
Many possible solutions to the NABO situation have been thought of and some of them implemented in the past.
None have been successful enough to solve the attendance problem.

If this change is successful ... great. Success for NABO = hurray.
If not ... I hope the eleven persons who elected to give this change a try will undo it so I can participate again.

You'll need at least one "new face at least in the first hour" to offset the loss of this old face in the last hour. Yea I know one man-hour seems like nothing, but actually during that last hour of play it is about 7% of total players and makes a difference when it is 7vs6 or 7vs8.
And then there is the catch-22 of attracting new NA players for NABO while making NABO more attractive for Euro players. I believe the chance of attracting NABO players based on the NABO time change just decreased.

Bottom line: good luck

and if it doesn't work out ... Brummie I trust you'll PM me when the time changes back (just make sure to let me know local (aka real) time start.

EUBO and NABO came about because a 6 hour battle on a weekday didnt work back when. Since Euro's have such a strong presence, it seems that could be revisited.

Anyways. It will dampen West coast NA players, but the 3 of us west coast people that show up dont make a battle by ourselves. There's still the main battleday Saturday. I have to say that the 11 people who voted for the change did it so all 11 of them could attend the NABO...

Also another item to look at is making EUBO and NABO 3 hours minimum rather than the current 2.5. That way people who cant make the start can catch the end.

May not be my place to say...but why is it an issue that the NABO is available for overseas players? Isn't that what the EUBO is for? It seems that the NABO should be set up in the time slot that is best for the NA players. Maybe it is and I'm just missing something...If so I apologize...

The question is, is a time slot that only brings 4-6 NA players per side necessarily the best one? Unfortunately, we couldn't have a NABO at all if not for our friends overseas. I've also heard more than one of our east coast players say that the battle ends too late even for them.

The change time may not solve our NABO attendance problem, but I'm willing to try it for at least a few weeks. It might just give us the critical mass to make it easier to bring more new players into that battle to the point thats its self sufficient again

I would still show up at 8pm cst if you can, usually the games start later than start time anyway and the final 2 hours are the most intense. Making it 3 hours now might be good, that changes it a half hour to the normal end time, so lot of Euro's might stay to the end. Anyway its worth a try.
