No photos allowed from the screen, so no.

The booth itself was just a big cubicle with really nice artwork around it. Once inside (which took the 4 hours waiting) you can see 32 PCs facing 32 other pcs. So nothing spectacular here.

Thanks for your report Chef. Answered a lot of questions. And thanks for the 4 hours you waited to get that info. Well done!

A couple of questions:

How was the in-game chat?
Was there a commander position? What resources did he have?
AA emplacements?
You played engy, how did the mines work?
Was flag capping about the same?

Hey Thur!

I can answer some of your questions, but unfortunatly playtime was so limited, that i couldnt explore all.
Thur wrote: How was the in-game chat?
Nobody was chatting (including me), while we where playing.
Thur wrote: Was there a commander position? What resources did he have?
There was an will be no commander! (*shakes fists at dice*)
Too bad, i must say. Too bad.
Thur wrote: AA emplacements?
AA Replacement at mainbase and AA-Tank, if i remember correctly. Mobile SAM Rocket launchers can be choosen by the engineer (once unlocked).
Stationary Anti-Tank Guns are at some flags. (which have to be reloaded by pressing "r")
But maybe i missed some gun placements.
Thur wrote: You played engy, how did the mines work?
The standard loadout of the engineer didnt had any mines and i am not sure, if there where any, because i didnt check.
sry

Flagradius seemed to be a bit wider, then in BF2. But i am not sure, if this will be tweeked.

And now for the bad news:
Rumors said, that the Specs of the Gamescom-Demo-Pcs where "2x Ati 6990", 6 gig Ram, highend cpu (didnt remember which) and custom Graphic Driver, so it runs smoothly.

DAMN!

thanks again Chef. No commander? Hmmmm. Interesting. Does that mean the return of usable arty? Where there any self propelled guns? Those were great in BF42. The Desert Combat mod (name??) had a scud launcher that anyone could use. Lots of fun in pub play. The old bf42 sp guns were great fun. If you had a good spotter you could hit about anything on the map.

I am sure mines will be available in some form. (crosses fingers)

No commander and in game chat not used. It's back to TS and good teamwork. Honestly I think a lot of the veterans from bf42 did not like the arty and eye in the sky. Getting killed by someone you have no chance to fight back against was not good.

AFAIK arty will only be available through the recon class.

Spot a point with binoculars, wait a few seconds, arty comes in.
But thats no expirience from the Gamescom, this is something i read somewhere....

As said before: Communication will be VERY difficult, because of the loudness of the game itself.
But this is something we need to test.

Maybe it'll be like in BBC2 so that you can choose between mines and rocket launchers. And maybe you have to unlock the mines first.

Did you have a good book to read?

Traditionally you can always turn up and down different parts of the volume, sound effects, music, voices etc. If you can't hear coms turn down sfx and up voices.

This is going to require discipline and good communication skills from the leadership of the army. I'm curious to see how that works out :-) The way it works sounds basically the same as BF:BC2
