We have a mumble server up for testing.

66.150.121.103 (ts.global-conflict.org might work)
password = gc
Make sure you register yourself. And play nice.

What's the advantage of Mumble over TS? Is this something GC is considering using in the future?

TS has changed their Non-profit license requirements so its no longer free for us. They forbid us from having a donate button on our webpage.
When we verify your website, it CANNOT have any donation buttons or advertising of any kind.
So Mumble needs to be played with.

Well if we are moving to Mumble, we'll at least Channel Commander. I found a tutorial here unless someone has a better method.

I haven't registered on our Mumble server since it permanently fixes your username. How are we supposed to change our clan tags in the future when we are promoted/change armies?

So is mumble worth the time and effort to get it to work as we want?

From what I under stand of the documentation/setting it is possible to get it work like we want it to.

I found an alternative method using a cc sub channel in each squad channels.

Or is it just easier/better to buy a teamspeak licence, its not that expensive.
Its enough if most of us pitch in with a few USD

Ive never been a fan of mumble, but if we all switch then I wont complain.
The no advertisement thing seems a bit weird from TS, are they really gonna check and act on that?

It would cost $175 for roughly 256 slots, 5 virtual servers.

Pricing is located here

Doesn't GC qualify for a Non-Profit License?

http://npl.teamspeakusa.com/ts3npl.php
Non-profit entities include but are not limited to organizations such as online gaming clans, guilds, or friends and family who utilize TeamSpeak software in a manner in which profit or gain of any kind is NOT intended.

Qualifies to the original NPL rules, yes.

The new rules, no. "When we verify your website, it CANNOT have any donation buttons or advertising of any kind." - This alienates almost all of their NPL users. I know of no clans/communities who host a serverbox and don't also have (optional!!!) donations to keep it going.

Personally, I'd rather use TS. I tried using Mumble and didn't find it very user-friendly. Even though I've never donated to GC before, I'd be willing to chip in for a TS server, and I'm sure that plenty of other non-donors would pitch it too.

I'd like to try mumble, but I have yet to get it to work. I still can't find where to enter my password on the server info panel and every time I try to connect I get an "invalid username" error. I've even tried just 1 lowercase f and I still get this error.

WTF do I do?

Just connect to the server without a PW it will ask for one when you try to connect.
