Good jet pilot for 1v1 dogfighting practice?

Post by Projecttwoandy »

Is there anyone who is willing to do some one on one jet dogfighting practice with me? I'd really like to get some good time in vs the various jets. Not getting a lot of practice as most of the servers I go in, I dominate and no one will take off. Not a lot if competition out there, so need someone with a bit more skill to go up against so I can get some cockpit time in to learn the new jets. Any help is much appreciated. I own my own server so it can be locked for training. Thanks in advance!!

Who would like to play in a scheduled jet practice? Just want to get a head count. 4 people obviously would be ideal since there's 4 jets. We could do 2 1v1s or do some 1v2 practice and bounce maps so we can get all the jets involved on the different maps and figure out some good line and dfensive retreat areas, etc. If someone could record possibly in spectator view so we can review and document our findings that would be awesome as well. Let's make this a huge advantage for GC players by really knowing the air inside and out. I will figure out scheduling and logistics if people can let me know who wants to be involved and what your available times are.

I loved to practice dogfighting in BF3, but it's just not the same in BF4. They've completely screwed up the third person camera for jets, it's sort of glued to the jet, making it harder to do certain maneuvers like you could in BF3. The FOV is also decreased.

These two things makes dogfighting very different in BF4, it makes you disoriented and you have to rely on sound and instinct, which isn't really that bad either. Relying solely on what you see on your screen just doesn't cut it anymore.

Me and a few friends tested some dogfighting a few days ago. I was spectating and it looked so much better than it did in BF3 with the contrails and increased turning rate.

With the stunning imbalance of the stealth jets with respect to each other it does not really make sense to dog fight with them.

Fair dogfights are only possible between the attack jets, and I read (youtube DF vid between "pros") that eg the Q5 has better rudder control than the A10 (? or the other one). But it basically means that you need to fly differently even with the different attack jets.

In the china rising DLC they want to bring air superiority back as a game mode. They have to work on the jets for it (balance at least)...they just have to.

Yeah the balance between the different jets is really bad atm. SU-50 acts like a paper plane, it loops inside the other jets loops... k:%)

To often I end up chasing my own vapor trails with the SU-50...

I'd be up for it in BF3. BF4's radar and view flipping are hugely annoying, there is no balance between any of the jets and the stealth jet cannon is utterly useless. That and the stupid lock on missile mechanics with it's long countermeasure reload time, undodgeable missiles, mobility hits and active radar missiles make the gameplay thoroughly unrewarding and frustrating. The air gameplay is a joke, it's uninteresting for the people interacting with aircraft and those flying them alike. Though BF3's flying mechanics had it's faults they achieved a pretty good balance between the damage air vehicles took and dished out and the lock on mechanics were far more skill based.

^ ICallIDTheft, the only thing I enjoy about BF4 is the scout chopper. It is so much more fun to fly than any other of the air vehicles in the game due to its incredible agility and the fact that you can hover inside the IED craters in Golmud Railway to hide from locks. I also hate the jets compared to BF3, the weird "stuck in one view" mode in 3rd person makes flying so utterly disorientating that I find myself rolling to the side of my chair to compensate for it :?

Yeah the scout chopper is pretty tanky too as even when it gets immobilized it's still easy to control and hover while it's spinning, unlike the attack chopper that just flips over even if you have the gyro stabilizer.
And the jets are playable but I'm also not looking into pro-dogfighting or even GC dogfighting until they fix things.
