Scrim against other community?

Post by Necromancer »

Any chance to organize a scrim with another community until this campaign starts rolling?
Few possibilities:
21CW
Symthic
Warrior Nation
6 clan (Koreans)

Do we still have a PR committee?

Back in battlefield 2 we scrim against Tactical Gamer I still have connections there. But I am sure they are only interested in hardcore mode.

We did a couple community scrims in BF3. They went... okay. Since we are delaying the campaign by a week for July 4th, there may be time for another scrim depending on player availability. Just need someone(s) to start organizing things.

If you are planning on playing the weekend of the 4th-6th you can expect a good deal of the US side of things to not be there at all.

What weekend did you have in mind?

Turnaround speed for this campaign looks like it's going to be fairly fast by GC standards. Best to wait until next break before chasing up I think.

It would be pretty good for our community to face against some other because of our new mates.That way some of us will be able to work with players from the opposite army from the last campaign :) .

Who initiated our 21CW Community scrim?

I agree with Gwynzer, I don't think we have the time right now. But, that doesn't mean we can't plan and be prepared for a community scrim or two, for the future.

Plan:

* Reach out to various communities to garner interest level
* Establish a Point-of-Contact with communities interested in doing a inter-community scrim
* Establish Scrim rules
* Sent tentative dates
* Promote the Scrim(s)
* Participate
* Make with the Merry Making

This would happen over the course of C3 by someone not involved with either Army's HC or Officer Corp (maybe someone from the PR Committee).

Thoughts?

Someone wrote in their forum, I think. Probably guided by Kilo.

One thing to keep in mind:
WE play for fun and only semi-competitive (everybody can play). Some of these communities will probably field their best and go full competitive.

This has always caused some tension in GC.

Duke/Bock contacted me about it. 21CW is currently in the middle of their campaign so I'm not sure if they'll be able to play one. However, they are holding an Open House Scrim this Saturday so you can hop on their TS and play with each other and also ask them about a formal scrim.

also this. Playing a symthic or a level or a reddit will just be them fielding their very best players at all times, while we would be rotating people to ensure everyone got some fun time. 21CW scrim went well as both sides did this, but every other scrim I remember did not (even the old TG scrims they had 6-10 ringers in every round of the day). we'd have to be very careful about how we word the rules around swapping players and such.

finally, current timelines predict that we won't have time to properly organize this before our next campaign begins, especially with a major US holiday in the near future that will cut a large portion of our playerbase. considering we don't know what this campaign will entail until it happens, we can't do much more than start poking around to see who might be interested to do such a thing in the future. if someone wanted to pick up the torch and go ahead and start poking and prodding, it might not even be a good time as by the time the next campaign ends we'll be well into the school year with people at uni and such which will also cut play time.
