Another gaming group I'm a part of dropped the website forum years ago to use a (private) Facebook group instead. Nobody checked the website, but everybody checks their Facebook. It's a good way of making announcements & brief discussion.
To be clear: I'm not suggesting we drop the forum. Forums have a lot of advantages over the crummy way Facebook (dis)organizes and (mis)manages posts. I'm all for utilizing both.
I think the main reason that hasn't been pursued in the past has to do with the sharing of real names and faces. Not everyone wants their real life to mingle with their virtual identities. Which is totally understandable, but I think we can have this group for the people that are ok with it, just be aware that there will always be ill-intended people out there, so make sure to visit the privacy settings in Facebook.
There is certainly no requirement to join the group if you don't want your true identity known. It could be good advertising for GC to have an active facebook group though. Just keep in mind that GC's rules of conduct will still apply for posting in the facebook group.
[sig]Broken due to link being older than I am (in internet years at least) and laziness[/sig]
Is there a public Page for GC as well? Like the ones businesses use to post public messages. I recommend we set up one of those while we're at it; just to make GC easier to find & act as another place to make public announcements (echo the twitter content essentially).
