Yes if everyone could please update their pledges so we can get a better idea of what or awesome fleet will look like.

I kinda want a decent setup (saitek x52 pro caught my eye, as did this monstrosity(jokingly)) for playing other flight sims, but at the same time I don't play them that often, and I don't want to go spend the money on that and then find that you are more effective flying with a KB/mouse due to docking and boarding mechanics of playing like an FPS.
Look- you'll save $66 dollars if you buy it off of Amazon  Anyway, yeah my friend has a cheap joystick that I can borrow to try it out. Going to test it when the dogfighting alpha comes out.

I have an Avenger and a 325a, you can fly the Avenger on occasion if you promise to return it with a full tank and no scratches. In general though, I'm thinking I may hire out NPCs occasionally to fly it as an escort or carry cargo alongside me, so I could just give you credits instead.

Every time I go there to show it to someone or while I'm talking about it to someone, I get so excited that when I realize how long it's going to be before its actually released I die a little inside in sadness.

P.S. To Seraphim, you are a gentleman and a scholar and the best example of all that is good in the world. I thank you good sir, since I think I forgot to say that earlier.

yeah....yeah. I need to stay far away from the store on that site, as every time I look through it I end up buying another ship. Right now I'm up to Aurora, Gladiator, 325a, Cutlass, and Avenger, and I've contemplated buying more already :o

I still have an old microsoft sidewinder precision pro that works quite well once it's calibrated and such that I'm going to start with, but if it turns out you actually can fly better with a joystick than KB/mouse (opposite of BF3 jets) I'm probably gonna get a nicer joystick/HOTAS set for more buttons that will probably be useless in the overall scheme of things.

of course it could turn out to fly like jets in BF3 in which case there's no point in even getting out the joystick, and I will be sad.

Calloutman is hiring shitryout to npcs to fly escort actually confirmed? That would be pretty crazy.

In other news, I got to try the occulus rift today!!! Am indie team was showing a platform puzzle game here at RTX. Felt and looked really good. Field of view wa smaller than I expected but it may not have been setup correctly since it was a fast demo. It worked with me wearing glasses just fine.

It only took about half a minut oriente myself and then it felt great. It's funny watching some people that refuse to movetheir head much and just use the controller. Anyway. ...I can't wait to use it in SC!

Edit on my phone speelling is hard

I think it's confirmed, at least the devs have stated that that's what they want to do. Also If you have a multi-person ship You should be able to hire NPCs to man different turrets etc.

Is the FOV smaller than your vision? One of their marketing hypes was that you couldn't see the screen edge.

I think the occulus rift works best, when you sit inside some sort of cockpit.

So i think it will be great for this game... or racing games.
Good thing, i still have my racing seat! ;)

I saw some online diagrams that made it look like the FOV was full field of vision and borders would be almost invisible. I don't know what the actual FOV is, it may well be very high, but the border is easily visible if you use your eyes to look around the inside of the headset. It's definitely better than any other VR headset I've tried (which have been only a couple that I can think of) and is quite good, just not quite as good as I had been lead to believe. I kept hearing media report "no tunnel vision" and thought that meant that the vision would be almost borderless to the user, but that is decidedly not so. (Again, it was a fast demo, and I may have had it not properly fitted)

All that said, I'm still going to pick one up for SC. My opinion might change given more time with the OR, but I'm still in love with the idea and it seems to be almost as good as I'd hoped.

Ah, that's a little disappointing, there was so much hype going on about it that I'd started to get excited about the Occulus. Like you I'll probably get it when it comes out... if I can afford it at the time, it looks like it'll be kinda affordable, but certainly not cheap.

Found as an optional seat on larger ships, the C&C lets you coordinate the battle between multiple ships: let your friends or NPCs who are flying escort know where to go and what to do.
That sounds cool. Wondering how they implement it.

Apparently they have also guild hangars.

woo for GC hangar. will be awesome I'm sure, complete with a bar :P

as to the C&C, it's probably a seat that functions similar to the commander spot in BF2 but has an overview similar to EvE when you zoom out enough. This also means there will probably be a squad interface similar to EvE, with 2-3 levels of hierarchy (squad -> wing -> fleet I think is how EvE does it, but I've been out of that universe for a while now). So basically you'd end up just giving orders and such from a seat in a larger ship (probably corvette up).
