not really as long as you do it with something replaceable. So if you just buy backup equipment for the ship you plan to use and already have lifetime insurance on something, it shouldn't be a major wallet hit. depends on how they work insurance and the beta though, if there is going to be down time between the beta end and release then who cares? or if first round of insurance is instant replacement and you have backup equipment, what makes it a big deal?

1 (probable) death for what has the potential of being a glorious adventure and and epic battle? seems worth it to me.

yep I did it...my poor wallet... got the Tracker variant so I can do front scouting/C&C/Radar exploring
