I'm sticking with the Andromeda. It seems to be the best variant if you're looking for well-roundedness.

My second choice would be the Aquila. Phoenix, I'm not too interested in primarily b/c it seems to be more of a plaything than a "get your hands dirty" ship.

I just got a chance to look at them for the first time this morning, and honestly wasn't that impressed with the selection. None of the options seem to be combat based at all, which for a ship with a snub fighter and that many missiles seems like a lack of ideas on their part. All-rounder, vanity, cargo, and exploration with no attack/C&C option just seems like it's missing something, especially with the cargo variant being so stripped down compared to the rest.

But I'm not planning on getting a connie anyways. Only things I'll even think about getting before release are a caterpillar (if they go on sale again) or one of the stretch goal ships (surveyor, herald, etc), depending on how they look and hardpoints.

for those who haven't played older Chris Roberts games, Wing Commander 3 is free on origin right now. Graphics are quite dated but expect semi-similar things from PVE/story mechanics in SC.

So the new patch has dropped with new hangars etc (they look incredible). I'm struggling to hit anything now in my 300i :/
Though I did learn a helpful tip earlier, hitting [Shift] to boost will allow you to quickly change direction.

yeah those of you with a cutlass should now have the asteroid hangar, which is easily the best one by far imo.

played a bit of the coop last night, seems like they changed missiles up a bit, much less damage and shorter lock ranges. and the online game selector for all modes is pretty buggy still. but otherwise great fun. unfortunately they disabled private games so it's hard to get a coop of just friends going, but we should try to do it some time.

Aww, anywhere between 10-40 fps in vandul swarm.
EWW 7-10 fps in multiplayer spacey racey mode

I guess it's still too early in development to expect solid performance, no matter how strong your card is.
