time what time is it???? (resolved and then some)

Last campaign did not show what timezone was being used as the base time for events... I signed on during the time posted 1-2 and 2-3 and only 4-6 english disabled speakers were on server and nothing much was happening. I set my profile time with the offset when i signed up. I used PST as PDT was not available... but now i look and it's been adjusted to GMT +10 hours....

winter (PST) is -8 hours
summer (PDT) is -7 hours

Long story short... What the heck time is it? LOL. Or will you post the time of matches and say the time is GMT? Last match I saw had no identifier as to the timezone used for the match.

The times listed for battles are adjusted for each member's time zone. ABC gets the time zone for each player from your profile here at the website.

Go into your profile and set the GMT for your timezone and save your profile. Now events will show your local time as though we were having the battle at your house.
Same goes for the times listed for other member's forum posts as well as the current time, if your profile is right, these will all be in your local time.

That way, if you see a post that says the member posted at 1115 and your local time is 1120, then the post is five minutes old. Other members will see those same times in their own local time.

Daylight savings time is usually automatic, so you don't have to change from winter to summer either.

I am also in the PDT. Set this forum time (bottom of profile) to GMT -7 and set the ABC time to GMT -8 and it will be correct. Yes, ABC is an hour off.

The battletimes posted on this website/forum are EST/EDT. Battletimes in ABC are correct as long as you set ABC to GMT -8 for PDT.

Battleday times for PDT are currently:
Tuesday 12noon to 3pm PDT, 6pm to 9pm PST
Saturday 10am PDT to 4pm PDT

NA TWL Competition team times are variable and you'll need to PM Xrcist if you're interested.

That's weird Ash,

I have both set to GMT -8 and the ABC time is right on the money. I have no clue why yours is off an hour.

I dont either, at the bottom of each thread it says "All times are GMT - 7 Hours" and its currently 11:18am here and thats what this post will say.

And -8 works in ABC the last time I was in there.

Maybe Zyphlus can post what works for him with -7 or -8 in his website profile.

Your post says 1020 from my vantage point. But then again Im using GMT -8. But here's a another weird one, it's 11:27 here as I post this.

My ABC clock reads: -8 PST (Sat 8 Jul 2006 11:30 Daylight saving is in effect +1 hour) ..............same as my pc time.

My forum time is now an hour earlier.

I set my profile at GMT -7 and now everything reads the same. ABC, Forum and PC. Forum must not be adding in DST.

In winter we go to the -8 time. We have to manually change it in the forum depending which is correct for summer or winter.

ABC appears to be an hour off, I wonder what we will need to set ABC to when winter hits.

My ABC is ok, I have set it to -5 EST (that's my timezone) and it have the good hour, and the Daylight saving is in effect.

The forum is an hour off, it shows 1h58pm but it's curently 2h58pm, so I guess the forum dont support the Daylight saving...

I've had this discussion before and I still think its ABC off for us NA people. Maybe thats why Europeans are on time for battles while NA people show up an hour late?

Anyways in the real world here in California it is GMT -7. My computer clock is GMT -7. This forum is GMT -7. ABC is GMT -8.

ABC is the only one that doesnt agree for me.

In winter California will be GMT -8, my computer will be GMT -8, this forum will be GMT -8, ABC will be GMT -?

Your TIMEZONE is NOT supose to change when you have the Daylight saving... My computer stay at the same timezone all year long, but as soon as the daylight take effect or have to desactivate, it ajust the hour automatically, but the timezone stay the same... windows is doing that for you. ABC added this feature too, and only the forum get the wrong hour when your daylight saving take effect...

GMT doesnt change, but the GMT -X changes whether you are in Daylight savings or in Standard time. In Fall we will be in Standard time which means we will be GMT -8, in Spring we move ahead an hour which means we will be in GMT -7. The link in the first post specifically shows that. How else do you adjust the GMT when you gain/lose an hour?

For EDT the correct time is GMT-4, and this winter the EST correct time will be GMT-5. So the GMT-5 is currently incorrect for east coast people.

The states/areas that dont observe Daylight savings time will never change their GMT -X as they will always be in standard time.

All west coast states observer Daylight savings, I think all east coast states do too. So they switch between EST and EDT, PST and PDT. Thats why computers and most everything have an option to say yes or no as to whether your area observes daylight savings time.

ABC needs a Daylight Savings observance option to be automatically correct.

Are you saying ABC is always an hour out for you? When you go into ABC (old records are fine) it has a Timezone in the "Edit" section, telling you the time it thinks it it). Is that right or wrong for you?

Seriously ABC is off for most of us in NA.
Only a few areas dont observe daylight savings.

In some ways, Indiana’s in a zone of its own. Or three. By law, most of the state stays on Eastern Standard Time all the time.

Five counties in northwestern Indiana, however, are in the Central Time Zone and switch to Central Daylight Time in summer. Two counties in southeastern Indiana and three more across the Ohio River from Louisville are in the Eastern Time Zone and switch to Eastern Daylight Time.

If you’ve heard of “fast time” and “slow time,” you’ve run into time changes in Southern Indiana. So-called “fast time” is Louisville time. “Slow time” is the time in Indiana after Louisville changes to daylight-saving time.

Two other states skip the switch to daylight-saving time. They’re Hawaii and Arizona, although the Navajo Nation, which is partly in Arizona, goes on daylight-saving time.

About 70 other nations observe daylight-saving time. Of the major industrialized countries, Japan’s the only one that doesn’t.
