The Battlefield 2 competition will use the latest patch, version 1.41, which you can download from here, not the current 2.00 Beta version that is around.

The next patch for BF2 would be 1.50 - that way the Beta (which should be in open test very soon) would be 1.50Beta ;-) I don't think they'll call it 3.0 *lol*

Beta 1.4 was called 1.4 v2 or 2.0 .The same one i linked in the first post ?
So i reckon if 1.5 will have three beta releases than its exactly what you'll get. Patch 1.5 beta v3 or 3.0. Its how they did it in the past.

Update EA comm page yesterday:

[Battlefield 2] Battlefield 2 Update 1.50 status

There has been a lot of discussions on the Battlefield forums regarding the Battlefield 2 Update 1.50, so this is to let you all know what’s happening.

Update 1.50 is still in development, we have held back on releasing the update as we have become aware of and are taking preventative measures against 3rd party tools which have been severely affecting everyone’s playing experience recently by crashing dedicated servers, clients as well as allowing account spoofing. We hope you understand our decision to delay the release to resolve these issues rather than releasing early with a need to update again.

We are looking to release this update by Winter of this year.

These hacking issues are not recent. Most of them have been happening for over a year. EA is giving cheap lip service for poor quality, as usual. Yes, EA needs to address hacked server issues far more beyond their current snoring state. PB needs to start detecting and hardware banning hackers beyond their current Carebear state. EA games would kick ass if they put a little more effort into them. And stop letting players acquire several hundred GUID's. Wake up EA, I'm still on my first GUID after 3 years...

I've said I wont buy an EA game, but I've gotten all legit BF games free so far so cant complain that I wasted money. Except now I'm currently on the hook for WarHammer (which is protected by PB? LOL).

On the upside, I've been on 1 server so far that has implemented PB's anti-macro. So much for my hot-seating helo. I can still do it, its just I miss it now that I'm lazy.

IMHO the hacking issue is just used for foul excusing the delay, which is in fact a matter of not putting enough manpower into it. The worst is they didn't inform the mod Devs about this whom they already had given a beta release date ...

Pretty sad conversation that sorta acknowledges the elephant in the room. Its not the end of the world from my view for BF2. I'm pretty good at spotting hackers vs players just kicking my ass. I usually just play on another server. Tho there have been days when all of my favorite servers were emptied due to aimbots/server crashes.

But EA needs to stop the hackers playing Christmas every day of the year while working with the neighborhood watch program (server admins) to combat tards. I've played against a couple player's aliases used on several hundred GUIDS each with over half banned for hacking. SheIOit, I'm still working on my first GUID... PB has failed at that point in my book.

The thing is, this is across the board. Its not contained only to ET, BF1942, BF2, BF2142, COD, HL, etc. Personally, I think the COD series had the worst hackers. BF2 is still a fun game and I still play it alot, but the hacking really cant get any worse at this point.

GC is actively both PsB and PBBans streaming, and theres definitely more to the whole story that cannot be discussed or "we'd have to kill you" policy.
