Kickstarting the discussion about BF2042 Campaigns

Since it seems more likely we will be getting the server tools we need to have campaigns with BF2042, I wanted to kickstart the discussion about it. Some initial points and questions:

- They said the game would have 4 seasons in the first year. If it's anything like COD, a new season will introduce mostly cosmetics, but they also wait between seasons to do heavy gameplay changes. So do we want to sync up campaigns with seasons? From a recruiting stand point it would be great and it would also give us time between gameplay changes to test them out before implementing them in our campaigns. Come to think of it, this a bad idea, would be too time constricted.

- Campaign system? Length limits?

- Should we enable all weapons? Should we use BF2042 vanilla settings? Change TTK to other game? Obviously we will only definitely know after the game releases. EDIT: Apparently you will have to select a faction for each side, so you can't mix different weapons and equipment. Think the question then becomes, should we have factions of different games against each other? Will they balance that?

- Thematic campaigns of different games?

- Does Discord have something similar to channel commander? Or we go back to TS? Alternatives?

- What's the meaning of life?

This is all I can think up right now, if you have more ideas or questions please post them.

AFAIK there is no official CC for discord. I made a bot a while ago to do a work around but it would need a lot of testing to make sure it works properly as well as work on my end to make it more user friendly, although it probably always will be clunky to get to work.

I think TS is probably our beat bet regarding CC.

We can get by some of the comms difficulties if they have ingame voip and we use discord, then only a handful of peeps (probs TAs) need channel commander or some format. TS will still be the superior solution for our requirements tho

Agree about TS being the best option. I just realized that we will have crossplay with consoles and would these peeps be able to use TS? Maybe in their phones?

I'm down for some 2042 action! It's been a while and this is the first battlefield title since 4 that I'm properly looking forward to. Especially with custom servers seemingly making a come back.

About the coms I thought using discord with all the Squadleaders in one channel with a commander (?) And to pass on orders to the squad members using in game voice chat if its working properly.

Hii everyone ! Great to hear that everyone is pumped up for the new BF game and is looking forward to reviving our favourite community - Global conflict!

Moving to the theme of this discussion, my primary concern,frankly, is the size of the actual players playing during the BD. Do you believe the main event(Battle day) shoould be an all-out warfare with 128 players fighting between each other or the more appropriate approach is to stick to 64-player main events? In my view, GC should have 128 players on Saturdays, keep the Black ops on Tuesdays and Thursdays with 32-48 players (depending on the participants we have, more than 1 EU and NA BOs could be held at the same time - like BO in Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Spain territory-wise happening simultaenously.) In addition to the main event and the BOs, we could have a new, smaller 64 players event on Sundays, which could be sort of a Tactical Operation - the battle is for a smaller territory ,however, the new land, if one, the team that's prevailed also receives a battle boost for the next weekends Battle day. Just my 2 cents.

Regarding the platform, which we are going to choose to help us communicate during the events , I belive Teamspeak is the most suitable for our needs . Granted, discord is a great platform for keeping a community alive and kickin' , because it has the right tools, so we should definitely keep it active.

The last few years i was playing Project Reality BF2. If u start a new Campaign, i will join again and u can count on me...lets see if BF2042 will work for GC Gamestyle..
If it works, i am sure, a lot of the very old Vets like me will join again...
Im will be happy to play organized battle again with =GC=
